Why have updates been so slow?
There's a bit of a problem that's going on with my projects. I have almost no motivation to work on anything.
As a solo developer, there's a lot of weight on your shoulders that comes with making an entire game, even if most of the assets are already made for you in this case. I'm also working on this project for completely free, so there's no paycheck or reward in the end, just a "You made a game." That doesn't quite give me a drive to really want to work towards that goal faster as a solo developer. This game also doesn't have a community at all anticipating any further updates or the final release, so it's almost a "What's even the point?" situation. I'm also very lazy, which just makes things worse.
My workflow also isn't the best either. I don't have any Trello board or anything that can shorten down the tasks at hand into more manageable bits. I'm not super sure how I would set up one, and also efficiently use it.
And for the final blow, just recently the SCP:CB Multiplayer Devs announced THEIR recreation of the original game, and of course they have a whole team of people that are already doing it WAY better than me, with remastered textures and everything. Their goal is even almost identical: to recreate the game to have the same feel as the original, yet have a great graphical upgrade. They are even including multiplayer. And with a full team that they have, progress is quick and efficient, while the biggest thing I added recently is an FPS counter, because I'm not happy with SCP-106 and can't seem to figure out how to implement SCP-173, but good.
So there you have it. There would be more updates to this game, I just don't have the motivation to do any of that. I'm not sure how easily this could solved, so for now this is where the game stands. Stuck at v0.0.2.1.
To try and make up for it though, here is the entire ChangeLog of v0.0.2.2 so far:
- Added the stamina bar
- Added ambient SFX to Room3_OPT
- Fixed various materials
- Properly converted rooms to .fbx
- HCZ Checkpoint changes
- Added reverb to Room2Closets_OPT
- Changed scene loading to ASync
- Added an FPS Counter, enabled in settings
- Increased light intensity in Room4_2_OPT
- Added a guy just chilling in the menu
- Added a Placeholder new game menu
If you read this, then thanks and maybe see you in another update,
